ICA-AtoM Project Update

Dear colleagues,

I finally have some time to post an update on the latest activities within the ICA-AtoM project:

In November 2007, version 0.5 of the ICA-AtoM software was demonstrated and discussed in two open meetings at the ICA-CITRA conference. I've attached the presentation slides from the CITRA discussion group meetings to this posting (zoom the PDF file to 200% to see the software screen captures in full resolution).

Seminar Archives for the Future - light and shadow of Digital Archives-

The Preservation Commitee of the Japan Society of Archives Institutions is going to hold a Study Seminar "Archives for the Future -light and shadow of Digital Archives-" on Tuesday Janualy 29, 2008 at the Tokyo Gakugei University, Koganei City, Tokyo, Japan.
A class of "Archives Studies" for undergraduate students in the museum studies course is the base of this seminar, and members of the Japan Society of Archives Institutions and related professionals and interested people are encouraged to join this seminar. How many years does "long term" mean for IT industry communities?

At the discussion of CITRA Quebec the group found out that archivists need to preserve records for centuries long regardless of the medium that records are written/ recorded. In this context we need to examine our true needs and to find out how many years "long term" means for IT industry communities.
