Oxford 2007 ICA Society of Archivists Seal Conservation Congress proceedings
Published here are the unedited papers, lecture notes and PowerPoint presentations of the majority of contributions to the Seals Conservation Research Congress held at Merton College, Oxford, UK in 2007 courtesy of ICA and the Society of Archivists (UK) and organised by the Bodleian Library Conservation Dept.
The Congress was attended by 15 specialists from 8 different countries, invited to contribute following a call for papers. The subject of the Congress was recent research on the nature and conservation of seals and sealed documents and included presentations describing the current state and previous trends in conservation practice in a number of national institutions. Questions from members about any aspect of the Congress or these proceedings can be addressed in the first instance to the Group Administrator (acrg.administrator@fastmail.fm) who will be pleased to pass enquirers to the authors as appropriate. None of the presentations represents the views or preferences of the ICA or the Society of Archivists. It is hoped that the conservation recommendations made by the Congress in Madrid 1995, published by the ICA, may be updated following this 2007 Congress and a conservation treatment survey template has been published on this Group page to encourage contributions from any specialist unable to contribute to the Oxford Congress.
